Pettersen arrived yesterday morning after a so-so stint in the HSBC Women’s Champions in Singapore. She said she was not feeling well in the first two days of the tournament won by friend and world No. 1 Lorena Ochoa of Mexico.

Norwegian Suzann Pettersen said playing golf competitively is the best job in the world because she loves to travel.

A five-time winner on Tour last year, Pettersen, nicknamed “Tutta,” took time out from her busy schedule to visit the country before flying back to her homeland to “sleep on my own bed, cook my own food and do my own laundry.”

“It’s the best job in the world because there’s so much to see and meet,” said Pettersen during yesterday’s HSBC Golf Day Tournament at the fabled Wack Wack Golf and Country Club. “Playing golf is the best thing I can do.”

Golf is also a way of life, added the seven-year pro.

“Golf is all about friendship, it is all about connecting people,” said the world No. 2 player after giving a driving lesson to loyal clients of HSBC.

“That’s why when HSBC invited me to go to your country, I immediately said ‘yes’ because I want to see beautiful places here. The people here are really very friendly,” she added.

Pettersen was brought over by HSBC to add glitter to an exclusive tournament among the bank’s clients, executives and media friends.

The LPGA star had just come from the HSBC Tournament of Champions in Hong Kong, where she finished 24 shots behind the winner, world No. 1 Lorena Ochoa.

“I’d like to come back again, hopefully during the holidays because I heard you have a lot of great beaches out here,” Pettersen told an appreciative crowd during lunch Tuesday, just a few minutes after gracing the HSBC Golf Day at Wack Wack (“Funny name, Wheck Wheck, isn’t it?”).

“I’ve been on Tour for the past four weeks now, and I could definitely use the break,” she said. “I only get to go home about four times a year, and then it’s nothing but travel and golf after that.

“But don’t get me wrong, I love what I am doing.”

Pettersen, whose biggest career win was the McDonald’s LPGA Championship, one of the Tour’s four majors, has amassed about $2.75 million in earnings in just seven seasons, good for 55th on the all-time list.

HSBC sponsored the unique event to test the waters, so to speak, and the response it got might just prompt management to hold a professional tournament sometime in the very near future.

But until then, Pettersen enjoyed her way through the wild shots she saw, a much-needed break from the radar-like swings she’ll have to contend with when she gets back on Tour.
