The 2007-2008 Asian Formula Series (AF3) winds up this weekend with its final leg of the Castrol Philippine Asian Formula 3 Grand Prix supported by Toyota, Pagcor, Lima City Hotel and Stoplight TV at the Batangas Racing Circuit (BRC), where points leader Frederic Vervisch of Belgium will seek to wrap up the championship and earn for himself the coveted prize of a test with the Force India Formula One Team.

Despite having a lead of 50 points, however, the Team Goddard driver, who finished second in the 2007 German F3 Championship, will face stiff opposition from Briton Matthew Howson of PTRS Racing, who convincingly won Round 12 in treacherous conditions at the BRC and could possibly turn the results in his favor with four rounds still left to run and 84 points up for grabs.

Aside from Vervisch and Howson, also seeing action in the nail-biting finale are Brazilian Rafael Suzuki of Team Goddard, who is third in the championship and highly capable of stealing the thunder from the frontrunners; privateer Don Tacos of the UK and Filipino Roland Hermoso of Speedtech Asia. Making their first appearance in the series are Briton Ed Pead and Slovakian Leonardi Valois of Aran Racing and South African Peter Kalpakiotis of Team Goddard.

The first race is scheduled to start at 11:30 a.m. today, March 29, followed by Race Two at 2 p.m. while on Sunday, March 30, the first race will take place at 11.30 a.m. followed by the final race at 2.30 p.m. Entrance to the grandstand is free of charge. Visit for more information.
