MANILA, Philippines – Without a talented foreign reinforcement in sight, Smart Gilas Pilipinas faces the specter of playing without a naturalized player in the FIBA-Asia Champions Cup next month and the Asian Games in Guangzhou, China this November.

MANILA, Philippines – Smart Gilas has vowed to better its previous fifth place finish despite drawing a tough group in the 21st FIBA-Asia Champions Cup slated May 22-30 in Doha, Qatar.

The Powerade-Team Pilipinas team bowed to defending champion Iran, 78-88, Tuesday in the 25th FIBA Asia men’s basketball championship in Tianjin, China.

After falling behind by as many as 24 points in the first half, the Filipinos made a spirited rally to threaten within 73-82 on back-to-back treys by Willie Miller with still 4:10 left.
