The Senate committee on Games, Amusements and Sports will hold a public hearing Thursday to discuss various concerns in Philippine sports.
The committee, chaired by Sen. Lito Lapid, will discuss RP athletes’ recent performances in international competitions and the future of the country’s amateur sports.

Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) and Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) representatives will convene before Senate committee members to give their insights on the issues raised.

Sen. Pia Cayetano filed a resolution to look deeper into the state of sports in the country.

Deliberations will start at 10 a.m. at the Senate Building’s Padilla Room in Pasay City.

Discussions will touch on the “dismal” performance of Filipino athletes in international events and how the PSC and the POC plans to rectify that in future stints abroad.

Also, members of the Senate committee will look on the roles and responsibilities of the PSC and the POC in an effort to improve the quality of sports in the country. [Related]
