Season 2 finalists Cebu and Manila go for their second straight wins in Baseball Philippines Series 3 as they take on pilot series champion PTC Makati and Forward Taguig, respectively, at resumption of action at the Rizal Baseball Stadium.

The Dolphins, winner of the last conference, battle the Makati Mariners in the first game of a heavy three-game bill at 7 a.m. in the early clash of last year’s two champions while the Sharks face the Taguig batters at 10:30 a.m.

The Antipolo Pilgrims, the other newcomer, gets the chance to show their worth as they battle the Unibikers at 2 p.m. today in this meet backed by Mizuno, Gatorade, Purefoods, Industrial Enterprises, Inc., Philippine Transmarine Carriers, Inc., Harbour Centre, The Heritage Park and Welcoat Paints.

“Our first win was tough, but we’ll take it. We hope to keep on playing and working harder for us to keep on winning,” said Cebu team manager Isaac Bacarisas in Filipino.

Opting to sit out its ace hurler and last season MVP Joseph Orillana, Bacarisas fielded Sandy Cerillo and Jeffrey Ardio on the mound and although both struggled, they still managed to hold their ground with help from their batters and superb defense.

Cerillo and Ardio yielded a combined six hits, one more than what the Dolphins had, but timely hits by the Cebu batters saved the day for the Dolphins.

Meanwhile, Orillana might be tapped to pitch against Makati southpaw Jon Jon Robles in a much-anticipated duel between two of the league’s best pitchers.
