TV Analyst and longtime basketball personality Andy Jao is the new team manager of the Red Bull Barako team in the Philippine Basketball Association.
Reliable sources say Jao was appointed by team owner George Chua to take over the managerial duties from Tony Chua, currently the chairman of the league and who also sits as the Red Bull Governor in the PBA Board.
In a conversation with the Bulletin, Jao confirmed the development saying “I humbly accept the responsibilities and I hope to continue with the programs started by Coach Yeng Guiao and Tony Chua, which have given our team the reputation of one of the fightingest in the league.”
“As you know, Red Bull has had the good fortune and reputation of picking up under-rated players and getting them to perform at their peak levels. I hope I can help keep up the high standards that the team has been known for under Coach Yeng and retain the chemistry among all the people involved,” said the man dubbed by the late commentator Joe Cantada as “Dr. J”.
Jao’s first official appearance as Red Bull manager will be at his team’s provincial game in Laoag City this Saturday against the Alaska Aces.
