With the possible entry of three other teams and a number of players interested to join, the Philippine Basketball League (PBL) will stage its second draft this Wednesday in time for the start of the season-opening tournament on February 13.

The Hawaiian Punch suffered a shocking 12th round TKO loss against his Colombian challenger to surrender the International Boxing Federation (IBF) world light-flyweight title belt to Tamara Saturday in the main event of the “Boxing at the Bay: Collision Course” at the Astrodome. NEW YORK (Reuters) – Manny Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach has welcomed the challenge of devising a gameplan for fighting Floyd Mayweather Jr. if a showdown between the greatest pound-for-pound boxers can be arranged.
Promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank told BoxingScene.com that he is considering hosting a Manny Pacquiao fight at the new Meadowlands Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ in the Summer. Arum mentioned Antonio Margarito as a possible opponent.
Margarito is still under suspension for attempting to use loaded handwraps in his fight against Shane Mosley a year ago.

MANILA, Philippines – Brian Viloria will make sure Carlos Tamara flies home to Colombia empty-handed.
“I know how hard it is to stay as world champions, and challengers always say they want to take your title away. But I still want my title,” the reigning IBF light-flyweight champion from the Philippines said yesterday.
The 29-year-old Viloria will defend his title for the second time, and Tamara, three years younger and at 5’5” just an inch taller, sounded during the final press conference at the Manila Hotel like he’s out to take it away. Read the rest of this entry »

GM Wesley So played the white pieces for the first time in the Corus B tournament in Holland against GM Varuzhan Akobian of the U.S.
So (ELO 2656) has been expanding his opening repertoire and utilized the Queen’s Gambit. Akobian entered the endgame with a disadvantageous fractured pawn structure.
