Floyd Mayweather Jr. recently spoke to DJ Whoo Kid about his upcoming fight with WBA welterweight champion Shane Mosley on May 1 and the broken negotiations to make a deal for a fight with Manny Pacquiao.

After getting his “second chance to be a good man,” former Philippine Basketball Association star Rudy Distrito is eyeing a new job in the professional league, this time as a player agent.
Distrito, who went to his native Bacolod City following his release from the United States, said he is looking forward to bringing talented Negrense players to Manila.

Filipino GM Wesley So scored a crucial win with the black pieces against GM Tomi Nybäck of Finland in the tenth round of the Corus B tournament in Holland last Wednesday. Nyback opened with d4 and So responded with his favorite Slav defense.
Nybäck went all out in his attack as he sacrificed a piece in his 33rd move. But So coolly defended and the Finnish grandmaster capitulated after 46 moves. MANILA, Philippines – Manny Pacquiao kicks off his grueling training at the gym this week, which may include a series of sparring sessions as he steps up his buildup for the Josh Clottey fight on March 13.
Pacquiao’s strength and conditioning coach, Alex Ariza, said it will mark the start of the tough plyometric and isometric exercises that should last for at least six weeks.

Brian Viloria checked out of the Makati Medical Center Monday evening after the five specialists who attended to him declared he’s out of danger.
Veteran scribe Ronnie Nathanielsz, who accompanied Brian to the hospital and received constant updates on his condition, said the boxer was in good spirits despite losing his world title last Saturday. At least, he appears to be.

In the second part of an exclusive Telegraph Sport interview with Freddie Roach, the master trainer based in downtown Hollywood told me that he is still being asked, wherever he goes, to ‘Get the fight on’ between his charge Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather. He says it is incessant. No surprise, really. It is a fight the world wishes to witness, and it is not the foregone conclusion that many have it down as for an event to now happen later this year.
The Ring magazine has named Manny Pacquiao as the best boxer of the 2000s.
In its March 2010 issue, Pacquiao was listed on top ahead of Floyd Mayweather, Bernard Hopkins, Joe Calzaghe, Juan Manuel Marquez, Winky Wright, Shane Mosley, Marco Antonio Barrera, Rafael Marquez, and Israel Vazquez.
Eric Raskin, The Ring’s contributing editor, wrote that “as far as we’re concerned, Manny Pacquiao is the only choice for number one.” Read the rest of this entry »
Freddie Roach had the Wild Card Boxing Club closed down on Saturday afternoon when Manny Pacquiao showed up for the second day of training for the March 13 fight with Joshua Clottey of Ghana.
